Trout in the Classroom (TIC)
Falling Spring Trout Unlimited is proud to partner with Pennsylvania Trout in the Classroom (PA TIC)—a hands‑on, interdisciplinary environmental education initiative made possible through a collaboration between the Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited and the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission. Through this program, local K–12 classrooms raise rainbow trout from eggs to fingerlings while learning about watershed dynamics, aquatic ecosystems, and cold‑water resource conservation. Our chapter supports participating schools by providing technical assistance, equipment guidance, and help coordinating the final, exciting step: releasing the trout into local, approved streams. This immersive experience fosters stewardship, connects students directly with their watershed, and inspires a lifelong appreciation for cold-water conservation.
Franklin County Sportsmen for Youth Field Day
Falling Spring Trout Unlimited proudly participates in the Franklin County Sportsmen for Youth Field Day, hosted at the Waynesboro Fish and Game Protective Association. This beloved early-summer event brings together young outdoor enthusiasts for a day filled with hands‑on experiences like trail casting, fly‑fishing introductions, and conservation education, designed to spark excitement for cold‑water stewardship. Our chapter helps guide aspiring anglers, sharing our passion for trout, fly‑fishing techniques, and responsible recreation. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with the next generation, foster a deeper appreciation for our local streams, and help inspire future conservationists.
